Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club celebrated its 2nd Charter Anniversary at Mandarin Golf and Country Club on June 5, 2009 evening. Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club celebrated its 2nd Charter Anniversary on June 5, 2009 at Mandarin Golf and Country Club in Markham. New officers for the Lions year 2009/2010 were installed by Past district Governor Lion Fred Sheehy. Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti gave credits to the achievements of the Club for its short history. Mr. Mak Pak-lam performed 3 pieces of music with his Scottish bagpiper to entertain the party.
Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club jointly with Thornhill District Lions Club hosted the Spring Dance/Dinner fund-raiser on April 3, 2009 at Le Parc Banquet Hall Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club and Thornhill District Lions Club co-hosted the Spring Dance/Dinner fund-raiser on April 3, 2009 with over 200 guests attending. Funds raised from the event will be used by the two Lions Clubs in support of the community services from the two Lions Clubs in the coming year. Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club hosted the 2nd Annual Effective Speaking Contest 2009 on February 28, 2009 at the Council Chamber in Markham Civic Centre Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club (OYRHLC), with sponsor from Town of Markham has successfully hosted the Effective Speaking Contest 2009 on February 28,, 2009 at the Council Chamber of Markham Civic Centre. The Theme of the Contest was "Speak Clearly, Speak Well, & Be Confident!"The Winners of the Contest are: Junior Division: Emily Chan Intermediate Division: Samuel Lai Senior Division: Mohamedhussein Hassanali They will represent OYRHLC in the District Finals in Blackstock on March 29, 2009.
