Heritage Lions Grrrr dragon boat team in action on June 19 and 20 at Centre Island
 
The Heritage Lions Grrrr dragon boat team had a fun event at the Toronto Dragon Boat Festival in Centre Island for the 2 days on June 19 and 20.
 
 
 
 
3rd Charter Anniversary Dinner on June 11, 2010 at Le Parc Banquet Hall
 
Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club celebrates its 3rd Charter Anniversary with a Dinner event at Le Parc Banquest Hall on June 11, 2010.  District Governor Lion Barry and Susan Tate, Immediate Past District Governor Lion Mike and Leah Springford, DIstrict Governer Elect Lions Jane and Paul Taylor, and Mayor Frank Scarpitti of Town of Markham were the special guests at the event.

Spring Dinner/Dance and Silent Auction on April 30, 2010
 

Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club and Thornhill District Lions Club just co-hosted the annual Spring Dinner/Dance & Silent Auction 2010 on April 30 at Le Parc Banquet Hall. 

 

This Extravaganza Charity Fund-Raiser was to raise funds for the two Lions Clubs to support their annual service activities.  There was live bands, a silent auction, and door proze for the evening.  It was a very relax and entertaining evening for all the guests attending.

Effective Speaking Contest 2010

Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club has just hosted its 3rd annual Effective Speaking Contest 2010 on February 28, 2010 in Markham Civic Centre.

The objectives of the Contest is to provide an opportunity for students between Grades 6-12 to practise effective speaking to Speak Well, Speak Clearly, and Be Confident.

The winners of the Contest are:

Junior Division: Perry Kwan (Grade 6 of Town Centre Montessori School)

Intermediate Division: Samuel Lai (Grade 10 of Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts)

Senior Division: Michael Laskaris (Grade 12 of Northern Secondary School)

The winners will represent our Lions Club to the District A16 Contest later in March/April.

 

December members meeting

Heritage Lions and families and friends celebrate the Holiday Seasons in our December members meeting on Dec. 19, 2009.

We wish you all a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Park Clean up on November 1, 2009 at Toogood Pond in Unionville.

Heritage Lions and families were in action cleaning up the park area at Toogood Pond in Unionville.  It was the bi-annual event that our Lions Club is serving to clean up Toogood Pond area.

Wii for Markham Stouffville Hospital - another fund-raising event with the fun Wii tournament from Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club on September 13, 2009 at Markville Shopping Centre.

We were honoured to have Mayor Frank Scarpitti of Markham as the sponsoring Chair of the event.  Mr. John McCullum, MP of Markham-Unionville was one of the contestants in the tournament.  All proceeds raised were donated to Markham Stouffville Hospital in support to its expansion plan. 

 

Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club at the 10th Bowl for Seniors in support to Carefirst on July 25, 2009.

 Heritage Lions Bowling team were at the Bowl for Seniors event in support of Carefirst for its 10th annual bowling event on July 25, 2009.  It was a fun day for all.
