Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club is proud to have hosted the Purina Walk for Dog Guides for the first time in Unionville on Sunday, May 29, 2011.
The Walk is a national event with over 200 Walks taking place in every province across Canada on the same day. The funds raised goes directly towards raising, training, and providing Dog Guides at no cost to Canadians with disabilities.

Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club has just hosted its 4th Annual Effective Speaking Contest in Markham Civic Centre on Sunday, February 27, 2011.
We received record-high number of contestants joining the event. We have added a new Division - the Cubs Division for students of Grades 5 and under to accommodate eager contestants who wanted to join the event but not yet in Grade 6.
The results of the Contest are as follows:
Senior Division: 1st place - Vivian Ng
Intermediate Division: 1st place - Justin Lam
Junior Division: 1st place - Perry Kwan
Cub Division: 1st place - Vedant Kochhar
1st place winners of the Senior, Intermediate, and Junior Divisions will represent our Club at the District A16 Contest at Udora on March 26, 2011.
Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club has adopted Toogood Pond Park in Unionville since 2008. We have performed garbage pickup twice a year to maintain the park clean for all to enjoy.
On October 2, 2010, Heritage Lions and friends were in action again picking up garbage at Toogood Pond Park. This time we have two dogs joining us: Summer at the front and BBQ in the middle behind the banner in the picture below.
Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club, together with Evergreen and Town of Markham held a Tree Planting day on September 19, 2010 at Austin Drive Park in Markham. With over 80 people attending, we planted about 450 trees in the park. Markham Major Frank Scarpitti was with us on the day.
Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club bowling team was at the 'Bowl for Seniors' event on July 24, 2010 (Saturday) organized by Carefirst in support to the long-term projects of Carefirst for seniors.
Ontario York Region Heritage Lions Club in support to Town of Richmond Hill, hosted the Wii tournament on Canada Day (July 1, 2010) at Richmond Green. This is in support to Town of Richmond in celebrating Canada Day. The tournament included Wii Sprots games such as tennis, boxing, and bowling.
We had a tremendous turnout on the Day. We held 4 tournaments starting every hour on the hour from 12 noon onwards. Finalists of each tournament were awarded prizes.
